It’s All in Your Head

We are enslaved in our ways of living.

We believe we must work hard every day just to receive our basic needs:

food

water

clothing

shelter

We believe there is “not enough” to go around

that we are in competition

with every other living thing

for the precious

resources of this world.

We believe that

WE are NOT ENOUGH

to deserve anything.

We are enslaved by our beliefs.

But what is Belief?

A law of nature

like gravity

that acts upon us

believe it or not?

A concrete, permanent, stable force

that applies to

everyone

& everything

everywhere?

What happens when a belief changes?

Does reality change?

Beliefs are thoughts

that create

what appears to be

reality.

If I believe all dogs are vicious

I will perceive all dogs

and their behavior

as proof

my belief is Truth.

If I believe I cannot have

a loving relationship,

a satisfying meal,

a fulfilling career,

I will view all the world

through this cloudy lens,

seeing only

what I believe to be true.

I will ignore

criticize

dis-believe

anything

that does not match.

To acknowledge anything

that does not match

would be to doubt the Truth.

Beliefs are dangerous.

They create walls

barriers

blind-spots

that prevent us from seeing

other perspectives

other pieces of the puzzle

other obstacles in the road.

Our beliefs limit our ability

to learn,

to grow,

to have a healthy & spiritually sound life.

Beliefs are thoughts,

Atrophied Ideas,

frozen in time and space,

useful at some place,

under other circumstances,

but becoming dead weight

in a world that is constantly changing.

Beliefs are

Shackles of the Mind

in a chaotic world.

Freedom

is all in Your Head.

Let it Ring.

I so dig this whole post! Annie is on it today. So much truisms in what she writes.

“Beliefs are thoughts” if only we all could come to this realization the better off we would be. Even in just a family dynamic this would have great impact if all would get on board.

By the way I also am very much digging your new look for your blog. Nice! A painting of yours maybe?

Thank you kindly, Baroness. The background is, indeed, one of my zentangle-inspired drawings ~”Shine”~ now in the private collection of my Girls Inc Pen Pal, Paola. Amigas Siempre!
